We are looking for a highly skilled entrepreneurial individual to join the team to assist us in achieving our strategic goal of being the number one advisor to owner managed businesses.

We are a top 15 accountancy firm specialising within the owner managed business area across the UK. A well-established firm since the 1930's with an entrepreneurial and dynamic feel who are continuing to grow nationally as well as regionally.

Ideally suited to a new or recently qualified CA or ACCA, the Accounts and Audit Senior role is offering a competitive salary with career progression opportunities within the firm and a great benefits package.

The Accounts and Audit Senior will contribute towards a positive culture in the firm which is currently being developed as part of our "Glasnost" project and through preparation of a Personal Development Plan.

The Accounts and Audit Senior's duties will be:

  • Management and delivery of accounts and audit assignments
  • Supervise, delegate and review work of juniors
  • Deliver information to client in timely manner
  • Display in depth client and technical knowledge
  • Identify cross selling opportunities
  • Manage client communication in effective manner
  • Monitor chargeability on a weekly basis
  • Plan Audit assignments, including budgeting and use of analytical review
  • Lead smaller audits
  • Identify where there are shortfalls of work to cover chargeability and alert Managers
  • Communicate to management progress on workload and plan for efficient completion


  • Experience of completing private company accounts under new UK GAAP and knowledge of disclosure requirements
  • Experience of conducting audits both in office and at client premises and of managing an audit junior
  • Experience of preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships and a basic understanding of the tax legislation for both
  • Experience of preparing VAT returns
  • Experience of preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts for clients in a timely manner
  • Experience in managing and maintaining client relationships and communicating effectively with clients
  • Leadership experience - managing, delegating work to and assisting in the development of junior staff
  • Experience of producing budgets for jobs and of monitoring and controlling jobs against budgets
  • Experience of working with Sage, Quickbooks and other commonly used accounting software preferred including cloud based systems such as Xero


  • CA/ACCA fully qualified
