An excellent opportunity has arisen for either an AAT qualified or ACCA, ACA part qualified or qualified person to join our audit and accounts team based in our Nottingham office.
The role will include taking full ownership of the charity portfolio, therefore the ideal candidate will need to be a self-starter with a strong interest in charity and not for profit clients.
The ideal candidate will have a sufficient level of practice experience and will be looking to progress towards the next stage of their career.

Duties:
- You will be responsible for ensuring that the firm's standard processes are used in the production of audit and accounts work in all aspects and for ensuring that technical standards are maintained, being able to answer technical questions primarily in relation to the firms not for profit sector of clients.
- Produce an audit summary and list of discussion points for the manager or director.
- Plan assignments in conjunction with the client director or manager and work within a budget agreed at the planning stage.
- Lead our specialist assignments in the not for profit sector.
- Inclusion of statutory disclosures in line with the company checklist and charities SORP.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Manage client communication in effective manner.
- Monitor your chargeability and your assignment budgets pro-actively.
- Coach other staff for improved performance and technical development.
- Develop specialist sector knowledge and keep abreast of industry developments.
- Attend training to further develop and maintain technical skills and if not yet attained to work towards a professional qualification.
- Professionally represent the firm and its interests in dealings with clients and other professionals.
Experience & Skills
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of audit work and will have practice experience with both accounts and audit of OMB/SME's and good commercial awareness. Must be able to communicate at all levels and be able to build and develop client relationships. Knowledge of the IRIS Accountancy Suite, Xero and Sage is a distinct advantage but not essential.
- Experience of OMB/SME private company accounts and audits: planning, budget preparation, identifying key risks, assisting with an audit plan, executing the audit on site and at clients.
- Knowledge of and experience of current auditing standards and approaches -analytical review, documenting systems and controls, sampling techniques.
- Experience preparing audit and accounts files using an electronic working paper system.
- Significant prior experience of the charities SORP, statutory charity audits and independent examinations
- Experience of preparing budgets and monitoring actual time against budget.
- Experience of using cloud based accountancy software.

AAT qualified or ACCA, ACA part qualified or qualified
