Experienced Bookkeeper / Accountant

We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper / Accountant to work with one of our clients in a permanent role at their premises.

This is a new position and due to continued growth and the transition to an independent company the client now requires an internal accountant/bookkeeper on their premises full time. The role will be to help run and manage the finance function within the business plus other duties.

This role will involve responsibility for all areas of finance from booking sales, raising and processing invoices through to processing payments, bank reconciliations, debt management, prepayments and accruals and management reporting.
The individual will work closely with the wider business, external accountants re: accruals and prepayments, management reporting, payroll, tax and statutory accounts, as well as external debt collection agencies and insurance providers.

Initial training and reporting will be with the clients Group Financial Controller and the role will be supported with assistance from other accountants and the wider clients business, with support tailored to the individual and flexed as the business/role grows and develops.

Duties will include:

  • Booking sales, calculating and raising customer invoices.
  • Sending out client invoices and statements.
  • Processing and reconciling customer payments.
  • Frequent internal communications with sales and administration teams re: queries and ensuring internal finance processes are followed.
  • Reviewing supplier invoices, reconciling vacant property insurance billing and validating supplier terms of business.
  • Frequent communication with external agents and other external suppliers, dealing with invoicing and other related queries.
  • Working with the client team to improve, implement and manage efficient bookkeeping processes and controls.
  • Preparation of accruals and prepayment information to supply to external accountants.
  • Preparation of information to support monthly management accounts.
  • Preparation of year end financial and taxation information for external accountants.
  • Review of outsourced payroll preparation, commissions and expense claims, in conjunction with Managing Director and HR.
  • Liaison with external debt collection agencies.
  • Preparation of various reports to support the wider business.

Personal Qualities and Qualifications

  • At least two years' experience in a similar role.
  • AAT Level 3 qualified or higher.
  • Excellent Excel and accounting software knowledge, preferably Xero but Sage as a minimum.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Used to managing a high level of transactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in liaising with customers, suppliers, colleagues and external service providers.
  • Flexible, energetic and highly motivated with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth environment.
  • Tenacious and proactive in nature.

Salary / Package
Salary £25k Good holiday entitlement and NEST pension.
