Financial Controller

Our client is currently recruiting for a Financial Controller to work with the Leadership team to design the financial reporting and strategy to support the strategic growth plan of the business. The position will be working with the Managing Director to oversee a Finance Assistant and provide in-depth monthly reporting and analysis to the leadership team whilst ensuring all financial procedures and policies working efficiently and effectively.

They work with study teams to deliver professional, tailor made, solutions to help your clinical trials to deliver on time, within budget and to the required standard across the world.

The Financial Controller role is offering a competitive salary and great benefits package. This role could suit someone who is looking for flexibility to work part time hours across 5 days a week, 4 days a week or full time hours and with the opportunity of hybrid working between home and office.

The Financial Controller duties will be:

  • Proactively working with other parties in the company to enhance the overall company's financial skillset and understanding
  • Produce monthly management accounts with financial analysis
  • Support the leadership team from a financial perspective on the strategic plans of the business
  • Manage month end processes
  • Management of cash flow forecasting and reporting to the leadership team
  • Provide budgeting and forecasting for individual business units
  • Process improvement and development of internal controls
  • Process monthly VAT returns
  • Annual statutory returns
  • Process year end accounting procedures
  • Approve payments runs for suppliers and staff payroll
  • Deal with company insurances
  • Deal with R&D Tax credit
  • Oversee the finance assistant
  • Manage external relationships including; accountants, banks, legal, regulatory bodies

Experience

  • Previous experience within a Finance Controller role
  • Experience of working within a SME or owner managed business
  • Previous experience of financial management reporting and analysis for multiple business units
  • Experience of working as part of a senior management team
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong IT skills, with a good working knowledge of MS Office and Xero
  • Have high attention to detail
  • Have the ability to work across a number of different business units

Qualifications:

  • Part qualified or qualified ACCA or CIMA
