JOB TITLE TAX INVESTIGATIONS MANAGER
Location BIRMINGHAM
Responsible to Partners
Purpose of post To manage own portfolio of clients under a tax investigation including
Main Duties Technical
Preparation of Disclosure Reports and review of supporting detailed analyses of historical financial data including business accounts, tax returns and other financial information such as personal bank and building society accounts
Detailed knowledge of Taxes Management Act and Income and Corporation Taxes Acts, particularly in respect of corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax and capital allowances both past and present
Prepare and review (revised) corporate and personal tax computations for a period under review
Pursuing information requested from clients and third parties and managing the information flows generally
Correspondence with clients, tax authorities and financial institutions as necessary
Maintain a high technical standard in tax related matters
A full appreciation of the interaction of other taxes and other relevant legislation such as the Companies Act, Data Protection Act and the Proceeds of Crime Act
Clients (external relationships)
Acting as first point of contact for clients
Attend and present at seminars and assist in cross selling opportunities
Billing and debt collection/management
Skills
A good working knowledge of Microsoft including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
An ability to work on own initiative and be pro-active
Good communication skills
Negotiation skills with both government bodies and clients and ability to deal with potential and actual conflict
Self motivated and an ability to work under pressure and to tight and moving deadlines
Assist generally in marketing initiatives and present to differing audiences
Instruct others, monitor and control their work
Commercially aware
Organisational skills
Comfortable in running several assignments simultaneously, and able to balance conflicting client needs whilst maintaining a satisfactory level of client service
Monitoring assignment deadlines
Ensure monthly billing cycle is maintained
Proficient with the use of Microsoft software and other interrogative PC based tools
To maintain supporting files and client records as necessary on each assignment
Organise workloads
Willingness to travel in order to service clients needs and market for opportunities
Terms & Hours 9.00 am - 5:30 pm with 1 hour for lunch
Conditions Salary dependant on qualifications and experience
