We are recruiting for a qualified Accounts and Audit Manager to work within our Hornchurch office, to assist the partners and associate partners in delivery of accounts preparation and statutory audit services, as well as to manage and allocate work to audit trainees. The split with be 80% accounts with some audit work and a small amount of tax work.

The Accounts and Audit Manager duties will be:

  • Leading your own client portfolio to include accounts preparation, audit work and tax assignments.
  • Ensuring all juniors are supervised on Audit & Accounts assignments and that accounts preparation is reviewed.
  • Scheduling the Job Control system, liaising and planning with the rest of management team and partners as required.
  • Controlling assignments as they proceed, ensuring work is completed on time and within agreed budget.
  • Providing technical assistance and performing client account technical checks.
  • Managing the Audit process of major clients with appropriate consideration of audit risk issues and accounting technical matters.
  • Preparing and reviewing work papers and drafts of company financial statements.
  • Preparing and reviewing management accounts and other ad hoc financial information.
  • Identifying risk matters and raising them with the Partner whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
  • Monitoring progress against budget, and when the actual differs from the budget then gaining a full understanding for the Partner.


  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Have 3+ years post qualification experience with another accountancy firm.
  • Have experience managing their own client portfolio and leading audits.
  • Be comfortable managing and developing junior staff members.
  • Be self-motivated, energetic and pro-active with business development and networking.
  • Have experience using a range of software, ideally including IRIS, XERO & SAGE
  • Experience of OMB/SME private company audits: planning, budget preparation, identifying key risks, developing an audit plan, executing the audit on site
  • Significant prior experience of statutory company accounts preparation under UK GAAP, and also charities and LLPs
  • Leadership experience -experience supervising teams on-site and reviewing their work
  • Experience of preparing budgets and monitoring actual time against budget


  • ACA/ACCA qualified
