Position: Accounts Manager

Location: Huntingdon (PE29 3LJ) (with some regional travel where needed)

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: Circa £40,000 per annum

About the role:

We are looking for a Manager with strong general practice experience to support the two resident partners and the team to enable the continuous growth of our current client base. The primary objective of the Accounts Manager role is to ensure the smooth running of two local offices, based primarily in Huntingdon, from managing workflow and staff to reviewing draft accounts and tax compliance files as part of the Quality Control process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accounts and tax compliance and advisory services where appropriate
  • Manage the office workflow
  • Ensure the smooth running of the office acting as a filter between the team and the partners
  • Utilising technology where appropriate such as Cloud accounting, Receipt Bank, IRIS, Xero and encouraging the team to embrace this
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, including interaction with clients and colleagues to ensure all deadlines (client & statutory) are met
  • Plan and manage the accounts compliance function to ensure that clients are compliant, and all calculations submitted are accurate and timely
  • Utilising technology to manage client deadlines
  • Managing a competent review process of draft accounts and tax compliance files
  • Identify other opportunities from the strength of your client relationships and knowledge of our services

About you:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience of working in public practice
  • Ideally ACCA/AAT qualified
  • Past management/supervisory experience would be beneficial
  • The role could suit someone with the skills but currently in a role with no room for further promotion
  • Experience managing and controlling workflows in a practice environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capability to translate complex theories into plain English
  • Demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness
  • Project management & leadership skills
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Can work well under pressure, hit deadlines and respond promptly to requests
  • A strong reliable attitude
