We are recruiting for an Accounts and Audit trainee to work within our Leeds office.

This position would suit school, college and university leavers who are looking to start their careers within the accountancy field. The position will be to work with our clients and provide support with year-end accounts and audit.

We are looking for highly skilled entrepreneurial individuals to join to the team to assist us in achieving our strategic goal of being the number one advisor to owner managed businesses.

We are a top 15 accountancy firm specialising within the owner managed business area across the UK. A well-established firm since the 1930's with an entrepreneurial and dynamic feel who are continuing to grow nationally as well as regionally.

The Accounts and Audit trainee role is offering a competitive salary, progression within the team and study support within AAT and ACA.

The Accounts and Audit Trainee duties will be:

Accounts preparation:

  • Prepare analyses and make postings using the firm's accounting software;
  • Produce straightforward draft financial statements in statutory format using the firm's accounting software;
  • Complete disclosure checklists for companies preparing accounts under UK GAAP;


  • Prepare audit planning documentation for review by the senior;
  • Carry out internal control, system and walkthrough tests;
  • Attend simple stock stakes;
  • Carry out basic audit tests as part of a team in relation to other statutory or non-statutory audits;


  • Prepare annual returns and other documents for filing with Companies House;
  • Complete company statutory books;
  • Identify basic tax adjustments arising from accounts production and audit work;
  • Prepare simple personal and corporation tax returns using the firm's taxation software;

The Accounts and Audit Trainee will have the below skills:
