Job Description


We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Bookkeeper to join our busy team within a top 15 accountancy firm. This role requires a forward thinking individual who is enthusiastic about using the latest technology to work efficiently and to deliver excellent client service. Reporting to the Business Services Manager, they will be mainly office based, but will have some client facing tasks which will provide an opportunity to develop bookkeeping skills within a supportive environment.

The Bookkeeper duties will include:

  • Sales, purchases and nominal ledger management
  • Inter-Company transactions / recharges / reconciliation
  • Petty cash and expenses management
  • Reconciling bank and credit card statements
  • Review debtors / creditors for old or negative balances and adjust as necessary
  • VAT reconciliation
  • Wages transactions and reconciliation of salaries and wages control accounts
  • Preparation of clients' VAT Returns
  • Production of end of year trial balance


  • Minimum 1-2 years bookkeeping experience
  • Experience of using Xero and Receipt Bank
  • Client interaction


  • GSCE Maths and English Language both at grade C or above

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage workload
  • Good IT skills including use of Excel

Salary is competitive but will depend on experience and training requirements.
