Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Bookkeeper to join our busy team within a top 15 accountancy firm. This role, reporting to the Partners, will be a client facing role, covering all basic accounts work and provides an opportunity to develop bookkeeping skills within a supportive and collaborative environment. This role is mainly office based with occasional travel to clients premises in and around London.

We are a top 15 accountancy firm specialising within the owner managed business area across the UK. A well-established firm since the 1930's with an entrepreneurial and dynamic feel who are continuing to grow nationally as well as regionally.

The Bookkeeper role is offering a highly competitive salary, progression within the team and study support if required.

The Bookkeeper duties will be:

  • Sales, purchases and nominal ledger management
  • Inter-Company transactions / recharges / reconciliation
  • Petty cash and expenses management
  • Reconciling bank and credit card statements
  • Dealing with currency / international payments and claims
  • Review debtors / creditors for old or negative balances and adjust as necessary
  • VAT reconciliation
  • Wages transactions and reconciliation of salaries and wages control accounts
  • Preparation and filing of clients' VAT Returns and EC Sales Lists from the accounting records supplied
  • Producing financial reports and management information
  • Liaison with Auditors regarding year end statutory accounts
  • Carrying out assignments to agreed timetable and budget
  • Ensuring that each bookkeeping file has completed and up to date "VAT Notes" at the front of the file
  • Keep up to date with relevant technical material

Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years bookkeeping experience
  • Previous practice experience is a must
  • Experience of attending client visits off-site
  • Experience of using Xero, Sage Line 50, CCH or Quickbooks

The Senior Bookkeeper will have the below skills:
