Haines Watts is looking for an enthusiastic and highly-skilled entrepreneurial individual to join its growing tax team in the North East/Yorkshire.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious team-player to play a key role in Haines Watts' ongoing growth and ambitious plans for the future. It would suit a qualified ATT tax professional looking to take their next steps to a more senior position.

The role is focused on R&D tax credits, and will involve contributing to the provision of a range of specialist tax services to a diverse range of clients all over the UK. Reporting to the Tax Manager/Partner, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate initiative, good judgment, problem solve and work independently.

The ideal candidate will be based in our Leeds office but will be part of the North East R&D tax team. We are an award winning, top 15 accountancy firm specialising in supporting and advising owner-managed businesses across the UK. The ideal candidate will be able to support the growth of the R&D offering in the Leeds area and support existing clients based around the UK.

As an experienced R&D Senior, you'll be expected to build on your understanding of the R&D Tax Relief scheme, and get stuck in helping clients to get the best out of their services within a few weeks. You'll have your own client book that you'll be responsible for managing, all the way from initial Client on-boarding to congratulating them on their successful claim. You'll be able to leverage your experience to shape the Client's processes and make real changes happen.

The Research and Development Senior duties will

  • Identify R&D related work with existing and new clients
  • Be able to compile reports and submit to HMRC on behalf of the client
  • Have strong numerical ability
  • Have good knowledge of basic accounting principles and how HMRC's R&D Tax Credits scheme works
  • Interact with partners and fellow staff in a technical capacity
  • Have experience in compiling a corporation tax computation and the impact R&D relief can have on tax planning

Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a R&D related role is not essential but beneficial.
  • Minimum ATT qualified and/or studying toward the CTA qualification. Continued support will be provided for those still studying.

Technical Skills Required

  • Understanding of R&D tax credits & CIRD
  • Corporation tax returns and CT600

Qualifications

  • Minimum ATT Qualified and 2 years' experience in practice
